Why Omisore Perished Osun 2022 Guber Ambition

Former Senator of the Federal Republic, Iyiola Ajani Omisore has finally buried his ambition of becoming the governor of Osun State, highstreet.ng reliably pieced together.

Otunba Omisore was the candidate of the Social Democratic Party SDP during the 2018 gubernatorial election in Osun State.

He participated in the governorship election alongside Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola – the eventual winner – of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former deputy governor who turned 63 on September 15, 2020, pulled the string that turned the tides in favour of incumbent governor Oyetola.

He actually gave the ruling party the winning number when he threw his weight behind its candidate after the election was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Another gubernatorial election will hold in the state in 2022.

The incumbent governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola has subtly kick-started reelection campaign.

But Omisore, according to sources, is not interested in contesting the gubernatorial election.

He has indicated his intention to give reelection seeking governor Oyetola all the needed support, an insider confided in highstreet.ng.

“He will not contest, you know he’s my man and I’m involved in most of the things he does. I can confirm to you Omisore is not contesting in 2022”, a source in his political family disclosed.

“Fine, we are still in SDP and Omisore is our leader… But we will support Governor Oyetola come 2022 election. Otunba has told us he will work for Oyetola at the poll. Don’t also forget we are part of the government… At least he (Oyetola) is doing what we were promised before we went into the alliance that eventually gave the governor victory at the last election…” the source explained further.
