Why Supreme Court Reaffirmed Yahaya Bello As Gov Of Kogi State

The Supreme Court has reaffirmed Alhaji Yahaya Bello as governor of Kogi State.

The judgement, a unanimous decision by the court’s seven-man panel led by, Tanko Muhammad, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), was delivered today, August 31, 2020.

The panel threw out the appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the election, Musa Wada maintaining they failed to prove their claim that Bello was not lawfully returned.

The Apex court upheld the earlier judgments by Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal and Court Appeal that Yahaya Bello was duly returned by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as governor of Kogi State.
