Gov Oyetola Take Definite Stand As Fight With Minister Aregbesola Continues
Emerging information has indicated the governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola has taken a definite position in the raging fight between him and his predecessor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
And his stand is straightforward, “ he has made up his mind and would certainly not shift ground as far as the squabble between him and the former governor (Aregbesola) is concerned”, a source who is familiar with Mr Oyetola’s disposition disclosed.
Aregbesola who is currently the Minister of Interior in the government of President Mohammadu Buhari served as governor of Osun State between 2010 and 2018.
Incumbent governor Oyetola was his Chief of Staff throughout the period.
Surprisingly, the two political figures are now at each other’s throats over the control of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state as well as who emerge the candidate of the party ahead of the coming gubernatorial election.
Governor Oyetola who has indicated his interest in running for another term of four years has strong opposition to his reelection bid in Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
The governorship election in Osun State holds on July 16, 2022.
Aregbesola who recently identified with The Osun Progressives (TOP), a splinter group within the Osun state chapter of the APC, has continued to maintain a stand that incumbent Governor Oyetola will be limited to a single term unless some of his demands and that of his group are met.
TOP is largely populated by party members who are against the style of leadership of Governor Oyetola and loyal to the Minister of the Interior.
Former governor Aregbesola is angry with his successor for sidelining him in the scheme of things as far as governance and appointments into government offices are concerned, and also thrashing of some of the policies emplaced by his past administration in the state, highstreet.ng understands.
All that notwithstanding, information at the disposal of highstreet.ng suggested Governor Oyetola has already made up his mind not to concede to any the demands and prepared for whatever the man he took over from and his loyalists are bringing on.
