Bayelsa Govt Supports Deceased Police Officer’s Family

Bayelsa State Government has sympathized with the deceased family of a police officer, Inspector Warilamini Itaita who hailed from Arogbo in Ondo State.

The security officer got missing while he and his team engaged in rescue efforts of some passengers that were involved in a boat mishap at Oluasiri, Nembe Local Government Area of the state.

On behalf of the state government,  Coordinator of the Bayelsa State Community Safety Corps, Brig. Gen. Eric Angaye (Rtd), received members of the deceased family on Monday in his office, Government House, Yenagoa.

Gen. Angaye who said the incident occurred on the 20th of September, noted that the police officer was about 38 years and was attached to the Anti -Vice/Sea Piracy team in Yenagoa.

According to him, for over a month, concerted efforts have been made in search of Inspector Itaita but unfortunately the corpse is yet to be found.

Angaye said the State Governor, Senator Douye Diri on behalf of the government has donated the sum of N5 million to the family of the deceased officer towards assisting in the traditional burial rites of Inspector Itaita pending when the Nigeria Police Force pays his death benefits.

Responding, wife of the deceased police officer, Mrs. Faith Itaita, expressed gratitude to the Senator Douye Diri-led administration, for identifying with them in their moment of grief, adding that his gesture would go a long way in assuaging their pain.
