Gov Adeleke Displaces Minister Oyetola

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has secured a major political victory over his predecessor, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, following a strategic appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

President Tinubu has appointed Governor Adeleke as the Osun State Coordinator for the Presidential Campaign Council, effectively positioning the incumbent governor at the helm of the President’s reelection campaign operations within the state.

According to sources familiar with the development, this appointment establishes Governor Adeleke as the central leader for all political actors coordinating President Tinubu’s reelection strategy in Osun State, placing him ahead of APC stalwarts in the state, including Oyetola.

This development follows a recent political fight where Adeleke—the standard-bearer of the Accord Part—successfully led his political party to  defeat his main challenger, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate heavily backed by the honorable minister. This echoes the 2022 gubernatorial election, where Oyetola suffered a similar political fate at the hands of Adeleke.

Meanwhile, the Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has released a statement signed by its Director General, Akogun Lere Oyewumi, describing the appointment as a welcome development.

The statement reads in part:”The Imole Campaign Council welcomes the appointment of Governor Adeleke as the State Coordinator of the PBAT Presidential Campaign Council in Osun. This appointment is well-deserved. We assure the President that his confidence in Governor Adeleke’s ability to deliver Osun in the presidential election is not misplaced.
We promise the President, as Governor Adeleke previously stated, that we will deliver 1.5 million votes to ensure his victory in the upcoming presidential election. Our message to the people of Osun State is to keep trusting and supporting Governor Adeleke as he continues to deliver on his campaign promises. A vote for President Tinubu is a vote of support for Governor Adeleke.”
