These Are Gov Aiyedatiwa’s Backers As Ondo Guber Holds Tomorrow

The gubernatorial election to determine who rules Ondo State for another four years after the expiration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s tenure will be held tomorrow, November 16 2024.

Aiyedatiwa, who became the executive governor of the Southwest state after the demise of his boss, Rotimi Akeredolu on December 27, 2023, is the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Aiyedatiwa who Against all odds survived a series of impeachment plots as Deputy Governor before Akeredolu transitioned to glory, was sworn in as the substantive Governor of Ondo State on December 27, 2023.

Interestingly, on April 20, 2024, he picked the APC’s governorship ticket to contest for another term after defeating the likes of Jimoh Ibrahim, a serving Senator; Chief Olusola Oke, SAN; Mr. Wale Akinterinwa; Hon. Isaac D. Kekemeke and Hon. Gbenga Edema.

The governorship contest is a straight battle between him and Agboola Ajayi, the candidate of the Opposition’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), highstreet.ng understands.

With less than 24 hours to the gubernatorial election, sources have identified a number of individuals as Mr Aiyedatiwa’s main backers.

They include President Bola Tinubu, the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, and Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, an informed source disclosed.

Gbajabiamila, earier report by highstreet.ng indicated, pulled the string that swayed the party the ticket his way during the party primary.

“The election is for him (Aiyedatiwa) to lose… the trio (Tinubu Shettima and Gbajabiamila) have provided all the support required for victory, an insider insisted.
