A recent investigation carried out by highstreet.ng has revealed the real reason the executive governor of Osun State Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola is yet to constitute his cabinet.

Oyetola was sworn in as the fifth executive governor of Osun State on November 27 2018.

And August 27 2019 actually made it the 9th month he took over from former Governor Aregbesola – the man he served in his administration as chief of staff.

According to findings by highstreet.ng friction between governor Oyetola and his predecessor on who and who should be part of his government is said to be largely responsible for the delay in constituting his cabinet.

According to available information former governor Aregbesola had earlier plotted to make his son Kabiru Aregbesola the chief of staff to his successor in office.

Aregbesola eventually failed to have his way as another individual Charles Akindiji was handed the powerful position.

“Aregbesola came up with some names that the governor is not down with. He actually wants to determine who gets key ministries in the governor’s cabinet. And Oyetola is maintaining he is against this”, an insider confided in highstreet.ng.

The development is said to have resulted in a silent quarrel between the duo, findings by highstreet.ng has revealed.

Further investigation conducted by highstreet.ng also revealed the stance of a number of part leaders across the 30 local government areas of the state, that they would resist a repeat of what transpired in former governor Aregbesola reign where most of the cabinet are not Osun based contributed to Oyetola’s delay in announcing his commissioners.

“They are insisting the Oyetola’s cabinet member must be picked from among home based politicians”, sources told highstreet.ng.

A source who is close to the Osun state government also traced delay in constituting the cabinet to financial status of the state.

“You know Osun state is not buoyant financially… So it all in the bid to cut cost, the source simply stated.
