Eagle Online Founder Dotun Oladipo Dies At 56

The founder and managing editor of The Eagle Online, Dotun Oladipo, has passed away at the age of 56.

According to reports, Oladipo died on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. He reportedly became suddenly ill while in his office and drove himself to the hospital, where he later passed on.

His death was confirmed by the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), an organization he previously served as president.

The current GOCOP president, Danlami Nmodu, announced the loss to members on the guild’s WhatsApp platform late Tuesday evening.

“It has just been confirmed that Emeritus President, Mr. Dotun Oladipo, died today,” Nmodu stated. “May his soul rest in peace. Amen.”

Oladipo was a veteran journalist with a distinguished career in the Nigerian media landscape. Before founding The Eagle Online, he worked with several prominent national dailies, including The Punch, Nigerian Tribune, Nigerian Compass, and The Sun.

At the time of his death, he was also the Chief Executive Officer of Premium Eagle Media Limited.
