Adaora Umeoji, Zenith Bank’s First Female GMD/CEO, Officially Resumes

Congregations are in order for Dame Adaora Umeoji, the new Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank PLC.

And the reason for this is straightforward, she officially resumes duty as the first female Chief Executive Officer of the foremost financial institution, today, June 1, 2024.

Interestingly, this came to be two months after she was unveiled as Mr Ebenezer Onyeagwu’s successor.

Tenure of Mr Onyeagwu, who was again crowned “Best Banking CEO of the Year in Africa” by the International Banker Magazine days to his exit, ended on May 31, 2024.

Until her elevation to the position of Group Chief Executive Officer, Dame Umeoji had held sway as the Deputy Managing Director of the bank she joined 26 years ago.
