Bayelsa Secures Gas Supply Agreement For Planned Independent Power Plant

Bayelsa Government has secured a gas supply agreement with the International Oil Companies to support the planned Independent Power Plant Project in the State.

Governor Douye Diri stated this today at the 140th State Executive Council meeting at the Exco Chambers of Government House, Yenagoa.

The Governor also sympathized with the people of the State over the prolonged darkness assuring that the State Government is working with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to restore power.

“Beyond the TCN, I like to assure you that your Government is also working  towards a more sustainable power generation and distribution in the State.  We have been in contact with the investors and not only with the investors even those who are producing to ensure we have our own gas turbine.

We are in touch with the IOCs operating in our State and they have all agreed to the gas supply agreement as soon as we have our gas turbine installed and we are very sure that in the coming years we will be having  24hrs power supply in Bayelsa State”, the Governor said

Governor Diri also reiterated his commitment to agriculture stating that the rice mill and tractors donated by the Korean Government has arrived in Yenagoa.
