Customs Boss Adeniyi Commissions Renovated Tincan Island Command Complex

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has inaugurated a newly renovated office complex at the Tincan Island Port Command, marking a significant milestone in the command’s history.

Speaking at the ceremony on Tuesday, 26 November 2024, the CGC expressed satisfaction with the project, attributing its success to collaboration with various government agencies and stakeholders.

“We have created an environment that fosters effective collaboration with other government agencies,” he said. “What I see today is the result of teamwork. Our stakeholders have stepped forward to help improve our workspace, demonstrating that collaboration truly pays.”

The CGC further stressed the importance of teamwork in delivering better services to the nation. “We will continue to expand the scope of collaboration, not just in infrastructure, but also in operations, to enhance our service delivery.”

In his welcome address, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the command, Comptroller Dera Nnadi, noted the significance of the renovation. He highlighted that since the command’s establishment in 1977, no major updates had been made to modernise the office complex.

“This renovation transcends aesthetics or infrastructure upgrades,” Nnadi said. “It aligns with the CGC’s focus on Collaboration, Consolidation, and Innovation. It reaffirms our commitment to improving working conditions, boosting operational efficiency, and creating a conducive environment for officers and stakeholders.”

The event also honoured Comptroller James Brigue (Rtd), the first substantive Area Administrator of the command (1982–1984). The CGC urged officers to emulate Brigue’s legacy, emphasising the importance of dedicated service and leaving a lasting impact.
