Funke Akindele, Wizkid, Davido Win As ID Africa Unveils Complete List Of Winners For NET Honours Class of 2021

The complete list of winners at the NET Honours People’s Choice Awards, one of the world’s most prestigious audience data-based awards, was unveiled during a live virtual event on Sunday, June 20, 2021.

NET Honours, organised by ID Africa, is an annual recognition of top performers in the entertainment industry and public sector based on audience data from Info Digital Africa’s media channels. NET Honours recognises achievers through a thorough analysis of audience search results, consumer interest, social media interactions and trends. Data for the awards are based on audience engagement from a database of over eight million internet users reached across websites, social media and related channels of Netng, Neusroom, 234Star and Orin between June 2020 and May 2021.

Simi NET Honours 2021

NET Honours debuted in 2013 as a special recognition award presented to deserving individuals in the Nigerian entertainment industry during the Nigerian Entertainment Conference Live (NECLive) event. In 2016, it evolved to the NET Honours People’s Choice Awards. In 2020, the awards went virtual due to the pandemic, reaching over 10 million people worldwide.

The NET Honours Class of 2021 featured 25 categories, including Most Popular Male Musician, Most Searched Female Musician, Most Popular Couple, Most Popular Event, Most Searched Actress, and Most Played Alternative Song among others.

Toke Makinwa

For some celebrities, joining the NET Honours Class of 2021 was like walking into familiar territory, as they retained their awards from last year. Ebuka was named Most Popular (Male) Media Personality for the second year running, as Toke Makinwa emerged Most Popular (Female) Media Personality for the second consecutive year. In addition, Cardi B clinched the award for Most Popular (Female) Foreign Celebrity once again.

Omah Lay NET Honours 2021

Some personalities also made their NET Honours debut this year. Feyikemi Abudu joined the class of NET Honours for the first time,  emerging the Most Popular Person; Erica clinched her first NET Honours award as she edged out stiff competition to be named Most Popular BBN Star. In addition, Omah Lay joined the list of winners for the first time as “Godly” won the award for Most Played (Pop) Song award.
