The governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu has described as untrue a report that the new coronavirus case in the state is a serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, Mr Akeredolu maintained the just infected individual was an ex-corps member in the health facility where the index case in the state was discovered.

The governor’s post reads…

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control confirmed another case of #Covid_19 in Ondo State. The reported case is a close contact of the index case who was also put in isolation but was tested once they began to display symptoms. The new case brings the total number of confirmed cases in Ondo State to 3.

Infected person is not a current National Youth Service Corps – NYSC corps member as stated online. Individual was an ex corps member that served in the hospital where the index case was identified and was retained.

As it is typical for all cases, all protocol for contact tracing have been activated with those closest to the new case kept in isolation for observation. #TakeResponsibility
