What Ex-Deputy Speaker Yusuf Lasun Will Not Do As Oyetola Wins Reelection Ticket

Yusuf Sulaimon Lasun, the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, is still nursing the bloody nose he suffered during the just-held gubernatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC), highstreet.ng understands.

But that notwithstanding, those who are familiar with the political views of the serial contender for the governorship ticket of the ruling party have revealed what he will be caught doing despite the defeat he suffered at the party primary.

The primary election of the ruling party held on Saturday, February 19, 2022.

The former number two man in the green chamber of the nation’s national assembly came third in the contest with just 460 votes.

Interestingly, he suffered a similar fate in the the hand of incumbent governor Adegboyega Oyetola during the APC governorship primary election in 2018.

Gov Oyetola secured 221,169 to trounce him and Moshood Adeoti, the candidate who enjoyed the backing of former governor Rauf Aregbesola who currently serves in the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari as Minister of Interior.

Mr. Adeoti, a former state chairman of APC and Secretary to the State Government during the eight years reign of Ogbeni Aregbesola in the state polled a total of 12,921 votes.

Those who have access to the former deputy speaker who represented the people of Irepodun/Olurunda/Osogbo/Orolu Federal Constituency from 2011 to 2019 maintain staying in the party and working against victorious Oyetola or moving out to achieve the same are not options he would consider.

His stand has always been “I will support whoever emerges winner at the party primary”, a source quoted Mr. Yusuf Lasun.
