EFCC Chair Bawa Tells Why Ex-Gov Obiano Is Still In Custody
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), through its chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has revealed why Willie Obiano, the immediate-past governor of Anambra State, is in its custody.
Speaking with Journalists at the 5th Annual General Assembly of the Network of National Anti-corruption institutions in West Africa (NACIWA), Mr Bawa said the former governor has been granted administrative bail.
Bawa, who maintained there is “nothing political about Mr Obiano’s arrest”, said he’s still with the commission because he was yet to meet his bail conditions.
The arrest of Mr Obiano, who was said to be on his way to Houston, Texas, United States, was effected by the operatives of the commission at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Thursday, March 17, 2022.
Highstreet.ng gathered he was taken to the the commission’s headquarters in Abuja the following day for further questioning.
