PDP Wants Former Speaker Dogara’s Seat Declared Vacant
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State has called on the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila to declare vacant the seat of his predecessor, honourable Yakubu Dogara.
The PDP call is sequel to Mr Dogara’s defection from its fold to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Yakubu Dogara represents Dass/Tafawa Balewa/ Bogoro Federal Constituency of Bauchi State at the lower chamber of the national assembly.
The former speaker had in a letter dated July 24, 2020 and addressed to Bogoro ‘C’ Ward Chairman of the PDP mentioned a breakdown of governance in his native state of Bauchi under the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed as reason for his resignation from the opposition party.
The PDP In a letter titled ‘DEMAND FOR THE INVOCATION OF THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 68(1)(g) (2) OF THE 1999 CONSTITUTION FRN (AS AMENDED) IN RESPECT OF THE SEAT OF THE MEMBER REPRESENTING DASS/TAFAWA BALEWA/ BOGORO FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY IN BAUCHI STATE – NOTICE OF IMPENDING LEGAL ACTION’ and written by by a team of lawyers on behalf of the Bauchi State Chapter insisted that failure to act as requested will leave the party with no option than to seek redress in a competent Court of law.
