How Gov Oyetola’s Son, Femi Is Helping Reelection Seeking Father
Femi Oyetola, the son of the governor of Osun State, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola is very restless at the moment.
His restlessness has its roots in the reelection bid of his father and the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), highstreet.ng pieced together.
Mr Oyetola, 67, is the 5th executive governor of Osun State.
He succeeded Ogeni Rauf Aregbesola – the man he served in his administration as Chief of Staff – after narrowly defeating Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2018 gubernatorial election in the state.
But sadly his reelection bid is not enjoying the backing of Mr Aregbesola who led his governorship campaign in 2018.
Interestingly now that he, again, has a major contender in Ademola Ademola.
The Osun State gubernatorial election holds on Saturday, July 16, 2022.
Information at the disposal of highstreet.ng suggested the rift between and his predecessor (Aregbesola) who serves as the Minister of Interior in the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari is a posing a threat of sort to his reelection.
Members of a splinter group, The Osun Progressives (TOP) backed Aregbesola have started exiting the ruling party in the state, earlier report by highstreet.ng indicated.
And the situation is said to have turned younger Oyetola – a major player in father’s government – into a relentless campaigner for his father’s return for another term of four years in office.
“He (Femi) is constantly on the move… he has embarked on rigorous campaign… reaching out to young people like himself… Asking for their support and talking to them on why they should help in securing a second term for his father”, an insider disclosed.
highstreet.ng understands he’s doing that mainly in Osogbo the state capital where he has a network of friends and also silently going about it.
