Why They Are Saying It Would Be Difficult For Aregbesola To Stop Omisore
Information pieced together has revealed the former governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, is once again, against Senator Iyiola Omisore’s bid to return to the upper chamber of the national assembly.
Omisore, a former deputy governor of Osun State, officially joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) a couple of months back after playing a vital role in the rerun election that swung victory the way of incumbent Governor Adegboye Oyetola in 2018.
Interestingly, there are talks the ruling party promised him Osun East Senatorial ticket in exchange for the said role.
There were indications he lost out in the scheme of things following former governor Aregbesola’s stand that it can’t happen as long as “he’s in charge as the leader of the party in the state”.
Intriguingly, Aregbesola, now the minister of Interior in the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari, and Omisore are from Osun East senatorial district.

Under the the umbrella of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Omisore represented the people of Osun East Senatorial District in the senate between 2003 and 2011.
Aregbesola, while in charge as governor and after his tenure until now, determines who gets what in the senatorial district.
That explains why one of his men, Ajibola Famurewa, a former house of representatives member, who eventually lost to the Ade Fadahunsi, the candidate of the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got the party’s ticket then.
But information at the disposal of highstreet.ng has it Otunba Omisore has already kick-started moves to have a go at it once again.
And it appears he would be lucky this time, sources who are familiar with the state of things recently told highstreet.ng.
Sources insisted they don’t see Aregbesola stopping Mr Omisore from clinching his new party’s ticket this time around.
This development, according to sources, is thanks to the battle of wits going on between Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and the incumbent Governor Oyetola.

Highstreet.ng gathered Omisore’s ambition is, as a matter of fact, enjoying all the needed support from Governor Oyetola who is ready to do anything that will guarantee his reelection for another term of four years.
“As we speak, Omisore is the one governor Oyetola is relating with as far as Osun East is concerned. You can see that anywhere the governor goes in the recent time you will see Otunba (Omisore) there, an insider gave an insight.
He believes ensuring Omisore gets the ticket will to a large extent whittle down Aregbesola influence and by extension make his reelection a bit easier, another source said.
